Matthew attended undergraduate school at Elmira College, located in Elmira, New York where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  While attending Elmira, Matthew was elected to various positions in student government and was active in several clubs and extracurricular activities.  His advocacy skills shone through most notably as part of his participation in several prestigious Model United Nations, at Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, and in Seoul South Korea, wherein Matthew was able to use his skill of persuasion, both behind the scenes and in front of an audience, to garner the respect of his colleagues.

After Elmira, Matthew moved to San Diego and began law school at California Western School of Law, where he ultimately graduated with honors. It was here where Matthew’s legal career began. While interning with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office he worked primarily on a high-profile murder case that was the subject of a national television series.  While attending California Western, Matthew received several distinctions, including being the recipient of a merit scholarship, placing on the Dean’s list, receiving the Richard D. Westbrook Trial Advocacy Award and the Advocacy Honors Board Best Trial Award.  In addition, Matthew received Awards for Academic Excellence (Am Jur) in both Trial Practice and Advanced Trial Practice.  He was also a member of the Gafford Trial Team where he competed regionally against other law schools in trial advocacy.

After graduating from California Western School of Law, cum laude, Matthew worked at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, in both the criminal and civil divisions, as a post bar clerk.  He thereafter transitioned to a mid-sized boutique firm in San Diego, where he specialized in products liability, business litigation, complex tort litigation, premises liability, and elder law. This position allowed Matthew to gain invaluable experience in litigation that has since permitted him to counsel his clients on preventive law, which is a hallmark of his practice. Matthew believes that the best line of defense against litigation is to takes early steps at prevention.  This, as countless studies have shown, is the most cost-effective approach in the long-term.

After a few years in San Diego, Matthew decided to head to Palm Springs. Having grown up in Northern New York, where the winters are long and cold, Matthew had come to prefer the warmer weather, so he was Palm Springs bound. After moving to the desert, he worked for several prominent firms where he acquired tremendous experience and ability in business law, real estate law, estate planning, general civil litigation, probate, and trust administration.  He has utilized his knowledge and experience to provide exceptional legal counsel to his clients.

In all, Matthew has both the experience and wisdom the to handle the most complex matters or the simplest problem.

On a personal note, Matthew is an avid hiker and backpacker, and most weekends he can be found on one of the local trails, hiking to either San Jacinto or San Gorgonio peak, or traversing the landscape of the High Sierras.
